There’s something you need to hear. Ready?

You are NOT your past.

Mind blowing, right? Yeah.

I don’t care if your past consisted of sex, drugs, rock and roll! (no, seriously)

TODAY is what counts; the progress is SIGNIFICANT.

Mistakes can be like sour (not tart, plain ole’ sour) fruit. Not to mention our minds have a way of allowing negative thoughts to creep up on us and remind us of every sour fruit we took a bite into.

We begin to think about it and dwell in it for so long that we begin to taste it all over again. (DIS- GAS- STING!)

I know that’s not how it’s spelled yall, but I needed that emphasis!

Literally everyone has made a mistake. (including that baby that threw up on her mama without warning last week)

Why single out yourself as the biggest he/she devil because of a past hiccup? Especially when you’ve made change. Not to mention you’re still getting better.

Give power to your progress! The ugly past can kiss your a- you get the point.

If you’re to ever look back on the past, do it in the spirit of Sankofa. Go back only to collect gems to transform the future. Also, never (ever everrrrr) forget to appreciate the now. Stay futuristic (most def) but appreciate the now, ALWAYS.

Never let your past define you. Surely, you shouldn’t let it consume you, either. If anything, let it transform you; into someone 22 times greater!

As we continue to dance into the new decade, let’s stay futuristic and positive! Consider the fact that you’ve made it out alive of whatever may have happened. You’re here and you’re going to win! (if you ain’t doing that already, with ya winner ass!)
